Congratulations to the LCHS Marching Rockets for their performance at the Morton Invitational. They finished 2nd overall and took 1st in several categories. Great job.
This week marks the Autumnal Equinox (Sept. 23). This is when the sun crosses the equator to the south, resulting in longer nights and shorter days. Many ancient cultures marked this day with feasts and celebrations, thanking the sun for bountiful harvest and paying respect to the coming darkness.
In modern times, this is when we begin to prepare for the coming winter and all that goes with it. Soon we will be raking leaves. It is time to start bringing in our house plants, doing fall fertilization of our lawns, and generally preparing for when the snow flies. Halloween is just around the corner and shortly after that we will be reminiscing about the hot days of summer, dreaming of beaches and warmer weather.
Fall is my second favorite time of year.
